THE MIDNIGHT CICADAS
WHAT IS FTC?
FIRST Tech Challenge teams (grades 7-12) are challenged to design, build, program, and operate robots that can be programmed using a variety of languages to play a floor game in an alliance format. Students develop STEM skills and practice engineering principles (like keeping an engineering notebook). Each season concludes with regional Championships and an exciting FIRSTChampionship.
ABOUT OUR FTC TEAM
With a STEM Initiative Grant awarded in the spring of 2015, GUSD started a second
division of the FIRST Robotics program, the FIRST Tech Challenge (FTC) Team #10246.
The TigeRoboteks had a very successful season competing in the FIRST ResQ game, won two second place awards at preliminary competitions, and a design award, thereby
qualifying for the AZ State Championship held in Flagstaff during February 2016. Fifteen
students (the max permitted) devoted themselves to the team for a total greater than 1000 hours over the duration of the season, a great contributor to our success so far. We are very excited to welcome new members to the team for the 2016-17 season as we prepare for kick-off in September with a new challenge.
